Swimming Pool Equipment
Hobert Pools has
been recognized worldwide for utilizing state-of-the-art
energy savings Pentair pumps on all their pool installations. Click a video
link below (Green Leaf Icons) to see reports and facts of how
you can save money!
Pump
The pump is the motorized
piece of equipment that provides the force to move
water through the entire system. The pump contains a
strainer basket that is used to collect leaves and
debris that have by-passed the skimmer baskets. The
pump basket should be cleaned regularly. When
closing the lid, ensure the o-ring is properly
placed and the lid fits tightly and securely.

Filter
The filter catches dirt and
particles from the water as the water passes through
to be cleaned. It is important to clean your filter
periodically to maintain clean, beautiful clear
water in your pool.
D.E.
Filters
D.E. is diatomaceous earth which is a white powder
that coats the grids inside a D.E. filter. D.E.
filters are cleaned by backwashing which reverses
the flow of water through the filter to rid the
filter of debris. This filter should be backwashed
once a month or when the filter pressure is 10
pounds higher than normal. After backwashing it is
important to add D.E. to the skimmers so they can
reach the grids and activate the cleaning process
again. The grids within the filter should be cleaned
at least once a year.
Cartridge Filters
Cartridge filters have become the most common filter
used for swimming pools. In this filter, dirt and
particles are caught in the
mesh cartridges as water passes through the
filter. It is important that the cartridge be
removed and cleaned periodically when the pressure
gauge is 10 pounds over normal clean operating
pressure.
Pressure Gauge
The pressure gauge monitors the pressure inside the
filter. It is important to make note of the normal
pressure for your pool after the filter has been
cleaned. When the pressure is 10 pounds higher than
normal, it is necessary to clean the filter. When
the pressure is lower than normal, it could indicate
an air leak or obstruction in the lines.
Heater
Most pools with a spa have a
heater. Water from the pool or spa enters the heater
and is heated by either propane or gas, at which
point hot water is then distributed through the
returns to the pool or spa.
Cleaners
Cleaners within the pool aid
in keeping the pool clean and free of debris.
Pressure Cleaner
A pressure cleaner operates on water pressure which
creates a within the cleaner. The pressure also
moves the cleaner around the pool for best
results. It is necessary to regularly clean the
catch bag on the cleaner.
In-floor System
The in-floor cleaning system is comprised of many
heads plumbed into the floor of the pool, poolsters
and spa. Much like a sprinkler system, the heads
pop-up systematically to spray water and direct dirt
and debris to the main drain where it is then
suctioned and passed to the leaf canister and then
onto the filter.
Sanitation
Systems
In-line Chlorinator
This system allows you to add chlorine tablets that
are stored in a tube and distributed to the pool
through the return lines. The
amount of chlorine that is distributed can be
manually regulated by adjusting the flow dial. The
summer months typically require more chlorine than
in the winter months, therefore it is necessary to
check the tablet levels frequently and adjust as
necessary.
Salt Chlorine Generator
Salt systems convert added salt in your pool's water
into chlorine, which enters the pool through the
returns. It is important to maintain appropriate levels
of salt as indicated on the operating instructions and
to frequently test the water for correct chlorine and
ph balances.
Ozone
When the pool pump is on, oxygen is drawn through
the system which recombines the particles into
ozone. Ozone acts as an oxidizer and when
introduced, it quickly breaks down organic compounds
such as lotion, body oils, sweat and urine as the
water circulates. Ozone is a reliable, supplemental,
non-chlorine oxidizing treatment which lowers
chlorine requirements and helps gas off the
contaminants that can prematurely clog your filters.
Time
Clock
Time clocks turn your
equipment on and off at pre-determined times.
Typically, the equipment should be set to run 8–10 hours during the summer and 4 – 6 hours during
the winter. The cleaner should be set to run between
2–4 hours year round. A freeze protector is
included to automatically turn on the equipment
should the temperature drop below 32 degrees.
Remote Controls
Remote controls are available
to allow you to operate your pool and its features
with the touch of a button. A remote control can be
programmed to operate the pool pumps, heater,
cleaner, lights, and water features at designated
times or as needed.
Lights
The standard light installed
in a pool is a 500 watt light and a spa has a 100
watt light. These lights are white lights that
illuminate the pool at night. If the light fails to
turn on, check the GFCI switch located at the
equipment. Optional colored lights are available and
can provide a spectrum of colors that change
frequently or can be locked on your favorite color.
Swimming Pool Warranties
| Lifetime Structural Warranty |
|
Hobert Pools warrants the pool shell to remain
structurally sound during the time in which the pool is
owned by the buyer. The term structurally sound means
that the swimming pool will hold water. |
